Relaxing in Sauna, top health benefits

Noah and I have wanted to install a sauna in our backyard for the longest time. For Noah, it was the health benefits; for me, it was the relaxation, or at least that until I took a deep dive into all the benefits a sauna has. You’ll be just as shocked as I was by the many benefits! So, let’s get into them!

Stress Relief and Relaxation

Picture this: you step into a cozy, heated room, and as the warmth envelops you, your worries start melting away.

Saunas are a haven for relaxation, helping you unwind and destress after a long day. The heat helps your muscles relax, while the tranquil ambiance promotes mental clarity and a sense of calm. In this hectic world, we could all use a little more Zen.

Detoxification Galore

Our bodies are bombarded with toxins from the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the stress we experience. Saunas are like a secret weapon in the fight against these harmful substances. When you sweat in a sauna, you’re helping your body flush out impurities through your pores. It’s like a mini-detox session, leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

Cardiovascular Health

Saunas give your heart a workout without the need for running shoes. The heat causes your blood vessels to dilate, improving circulation and promoting better cardiovascular health. Regular sauna sessions can help lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease, and even improve your overall endurance. It’s like a cozy cardio session!

Post-Workout Recovery

Fitness fanatics, this one’s for you! After an intense workout, your muscles can feel sore and tired. Saunas can speed your recovery by increasing blood flow to your muscles and easing post-exercise tension. It’s like a warm hug for your tired muscles, helping you bounce back faster and more robust.

Glowing Skin

Saunas might be your ticket to radiant skin. The heat promotes circulation, bringing nutrients and oxygen to your skin cells. This helps nourish your complexion, leaving you with that coveted healthy glow. Plus, sweating in a sauna can unclog pores and rid your skin of impurities, making it look and feel rejuvenated.

Enhanced Immune System

Ever wonder why you tend to feel better after a good sweat session? Saunas can boost your immune system by increasing the production of white blood cells. This can help your body fight off infections more effectively, keeping you healthier and more resilient.

Mental Clarity and Focus

Sometimes our minds can feel as foggy as a misty morning. Saunas can clear that mental fog and sharpen your focus. The heat stimulates the release of endorphins, those feel-good chemicals that also enhance your mood and cognitive function. So, a sauna might be the ticket to boost your brainpower.

Increase metabolism and weight loss

Some studies have shown that saunas can even help with weight loss. Increasing your body’s heat helps boost your metabolism and burn more calories.

Honestly, studies have shown even more benefits than just these eight, but these eight were what sold me! Surprisingly though, now that the sauna is installed and we have been using it daily, I’ve added a ninth benefit to my list, which I didn’t even consider. One-on-one time with Noah. It’s one of my favorite things to look forward to. After a crazy day potty training toddlers, renovating the home, working on a flip, or just having a stressful day at work, it is amazing to shut it all out and spend 30 minutes in the sauna without our phones, simply talking and unwinding. I have to say it’s probably my favorite benefit of all.
